Only a 25-day supply of diesel is available in the US due to a shortage: report
Additionally, it represents a significant price rise over the national average for fuel. The EIA reports that the national average price of gasoline in the United States is $3.87 per gallon, with California having the highest price at $5.84 per gallon.
The maintenance season is a contributing factor in the diesel supply crisis, but Russia's conflict in Ukraine, which has harmed global fuel supplies, is the major problem. Fortunately, Bloomberg reports that there might be some positive news soon. According to reports, two transport tankers were diverted from their intended destinations in Europe, and one million barrels of diesel fuel are now en route to New York. The reopening of a diesel refinery in Trainer, Pennsylvania, following its seasonal maintenance, will aid in raising domestic output of diesel at the same time. Hopefully, these two factors will help to bring the diesel stockpile down to somewhat normal levels.
